Job summary

NBT Bank in Torrington, CT seeks an energetic Mortgage Originator to drive residential mortgage and home equity applications. You will develop business plans, build a network of outside referrals, and guide customers through the loan process from application to closing.

The role requires evening/weekend availability and a valid driver's license. Education includes an Associate's degree with two years of sales experience; mortgage lending experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in business or related discipline and two years' sales experience.
• Two years mortgage or lending experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to cold call prospects and develop outside referrals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of a variety of mortgage loan products.
• Ability to analyze credit reports and income and asset calculations.

Responsibilities

• Originate mortgage loans and participate in related business development activities.
• Meet with prospects, explain mortgage products and services, and make recommendations.
• Negotiate terms within authority and participate in closings as needed.
• Obtain and analyze financial and credit data and prepare required documents for underwriting.
• Develop and maintain a network of outside referral sources.
