Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking a compassionate Residential Manager in Philadelphia to lead a residential site, supervise Direct Support Professionals, and ensure safe, quality care for individuals served. You will manage staffing, coordinate medical needs, and foster independence and community involvement.

This leadership role requires experience in behavioral health or residential services, plus strong communication and crisis-management skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illness.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid, non-provisional driver’s license required.
  • Personal vehicle with required minimum liability insurance coverage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer and internet literacy.
  • Ability to meet applicable employment screening and clearance requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable residential care regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned residential site(s), ensuring a safe, healthy, and supportive environment.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to Direct Support Professionals and other residential staff.
  • Manage staffing and scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage.
  • Work directly with individuals served, supporting daily living skills, personal care, community involvement, and other needs.
  • Support individuals in developing independence, building relationships, and community involvement.
  • Oversee medical appointments, medication management, and required health-related documentation.
  • Train and coach employees on individual-specific needs, medication procedures, program requirements, and job competencies.
  • Monitor employee performance, training compliance, timekeeping, and documentation.
  • Maintain consumer records and ensure documentation is accurate and complete according to program and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and respond to crisis situations and significant behavioral or medical concerns.
  • Assist with consumer funds, petty cash, household supplies, and other residential operational needs.
  • Ensure homes comply with applicable state regulations, safety standards, and agency policies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and assist during residential emergencies.
  • Serve as a positive role model and promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and person-centered support.

What You’ll Do

As a Residential Manager, you will:

Schedule
  • Full-Time
  • Flexibility is required based on program and staffing needs
  • May include evenings, weekends, appointments, emergencies, and other non-scheduled hours
  • Participation in the program’s on-call rotation is required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, bend, stoop, twist, and climb steps as required
  • Ability to drive a vehicle
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more as required by the position
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
