Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services is seeking a Residential Manager in Delaware to lead daily operations of residential homes serving individuals with developmental disabilities. You will supervise staff, manage staffing, and coordinate services to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.

Responsibilities include enforcing compliance, supporting daily living skills, and fostering strong communication with families and partners.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum two years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual, developmental, or behavioral health challenges.
  • Minimum six months of leadership experience in a residential setting.
  • Successful completion of the Residential Coordinator Exam (or ability to obtain as required).
  • Valid Delaware Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of residential homes serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and support to Assistant Residential Managers, Lead DSPs, and Direct Support Professionals.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, scheduling, and coverage for assigned residences.
  • Support individuals with daily living skills, personal care needs, community involvement, recreation, and independence-building activities.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with Individual Habilitation Plans, treatment plans, state regulations, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, transportation, and services for individuals served.
  • Manage crisis situations and ensure staff are properly trained to respond effectively.
  • Monitor medication administration, documentation, budgeting, and household operations.
  • Foster strong communication with families, guardians, community partners, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and person-centered environment for both residents and staff.
  • Assist with program growth, expansion initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.

What You'll Do

Schedule
  • Full-Time
  • Flexible schedule based on program needs
  • Participation in on-call rotation may be required
  • Ability to support staffing coverage as needed
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, climb stairs, and assist individuals as needed
  • Ability to drive and transport individuals safely
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
