Job summary

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is seeking a Maintenance Technician for Islander Housing to perform repairs and routine maintenance across residence halls and apartment-style living units. This role reports to the Facilities Director and requires safety‑conscious, hands-on work in a university housing setting.

The position emphasizes preventative maintenance, timely response to resident requests, and coordination with contractors for larger projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One (1) year of related experience in building maintenance.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventative maintenance and repairs on residential facilities, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, and other systems.
• Respond to resident requests for maintenance or repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Use of ladders and small lifts.
• Conduct regular inspections of residential units to identify and address potential maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repair work completed.
• Work with contractors and vendors as needed to complete larger maintenance projects.
• Operate a TAMUCC vehicle and/or golf cart to navigate to and from worksites.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
