Job summary

American University is seeking a part-time Residence Maintenance Crew member to support Housing Operations. The role focuses on responding to 2FIX requests, furniture installation and repairs, loft setup, event space setups, and general facility maintenance across campus residences.

The position is available only to enrolled students, with potential to work 10–20 hours per week. Compensation is $18.40 per hour, with duties aligned to Fall, Spring, and Summer cycles and on-campus hours.

Qualifications

• Enrollment as a student at American University is required.
• Eligibility for Federal Work Study (FWS) funding applies to most student positions at American University.

Responsibilities

• Assist Facilities Specialists in responding to 2fix requests and coordinate follow-ups.
• Add, remove, and replace furniture in residents' rooms; inspect for damage or safety issues.
• Track inventory of lounge furniture and consult supervisors about replacements.
• Install and remove lofts; address squeaky bed issues and replacement of shelving as needed.
• Perform event set-ups in residence hall meeting spaces; support appliance maintenance and basic repairs.
• Support monthly inventory checks and maintain records; assist with semester move-in and end-of-semester duties.
