Job Description
This position performs routine and semi-skilled maintenance work to support the operation, appearance, safety, and functionality of University Housing facilities. This position is responsible for executing non-trade maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance activities, furniture and equipment installation, facility readiness projects, and assisting with residence hall turnover and occupancy preparation.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine and semi-skilled maintenance work to support University Housing facilities, including but not limited to:
- Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs on Housing facilities, furnishings, appliances, and equipment.
- Completes assigned work orders involving general carpentry, hardware replacement, caulking, painting, drywall repair, minor plumbing repairs, appliance repairs, and other non-trade maintenance activities.
- Installs, assembles, relocates, and repairs residential furniture, fixtures, appliances, and equipment.
- Assists with residence hall opening, closing, room turnover, and occupancy readiness projects.
- Performs preventative maintenance including filter replacement, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and equipment servicing.
- Assists licensed trades personnel with larger maintenance or renovation projects as needed.
- Identifies maintenance deficiencies and reports issues requiring skilled trade work.
- Operates university vehicles, tools, and equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintains inventory of commonly used maintenance supplies and materials.
- Responds to emergency maintenance situations as assigned.
- Maintains clean and safe work areas while following university safety procedures and applicable regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned with the scope and intent of the position.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Typically requires a high school diploma and six months of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of safe working practices.
- Customer service skills.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Ability to use light equipment.
- Ability to follow instruction.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor.
- Ability to wear protective gear.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, property maintenance, or a related field.

Minimum hiring rate $16.48 per hour (Market Range 06)-Salary commensurate with education and experience
