Job summary

HR Legacy Commercial, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance across residential units, common areas, and building facilities in Chicago. The role supports daily property operations by addressing repair needs and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for residents.

You will respond to work orders, handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks, inspect properties, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in building maintenance, apartment maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and building repair procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine maintenance issues.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize maintenance requests and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs in residential units, common areas, and building facilities.
• Respond to maintenance requests and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures.
• Complete minor electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures, switches, and outlets when qualified and authorized.
• Assist with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Repair doors, locks, windows, cabinets, and other building fixtures.
• Perform drywall repairs, painting, and minor carpentry work.
• Conduct routine property inspections to identify maintenance issues and safety hazards.
• Complete preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents, including necessary repairs and inspections.
• Maintain building grounds, exterior areas, and maintenance storage spaces.
• Assist with snow and ice removal when needed.
• Respond to emergency maintenance situations as assigned.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of maintenance supplies.
• Document completed work orders and communicate outstanding repairs to supervisors.
• Follow all company safety procedures, building codes, and maintenance standards.
• Provide professional and courteous service to residents, employees, and visitors.
