Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Maintenance Technician role based in Chicago, IL. The Maintenance Technician will perform routine and emergency maintenance in residential buildings, including troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems. Daily tasks include completing work orders, conducting apartment turns, performing preventive maintenance on equipment and building systems, and maintaining common areas, grounds, and building exteriors. The role also involves working with property management and resident services teams to respond promptly and professionally to resident service requests, ensuring safe, clean, and well-maintained living environments. The Maintenance Technician will follow safety protocols, maintain tools and supplies, and may participate in rotating on-call coverage for after-hours emergencies.

The hourly rate for this role is from $21.00-$26.00 per hour

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Maintenance & Repair and Equipment Maintenance, including hands‑on work with building systems, fixtures, and appliances.
• Experience with Preventive Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance practices to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
• Proficiency in Troubleshooting building, mechanical, and minor electrical issues to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance in a residential or commercial setting.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, safety procedures, and equipment manuals, and to keep accurate maintenance records.
• Customer‑focused approach with clear communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully and professionally with residents, vendors, and team members.
• Capability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and safely lift, carry, and use tools and materials as required by the job.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training, trade certifications, or previous property maintenance experience are strongly preferred.
