Job summary

HR Legacy Commercial, LLC in Chicago is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive work across residential buildings. You will respond to work orders, address plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and safety issues, and help keep units and common areas safe, clean, and functional.

This role requires the ability to troubleshoot, work independently or with a team, and communicate clearly with residents and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Experience in building/apartment maintenance preferred.
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and building repair procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine maintenance issues.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize maintenance requests and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs in residential units, common areas, and facilities.
• Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders promptly.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs.
• Complete minor electrical repairs.
• Assist with HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Repair doors, locks, windows, cabinets, and fixtures.
• Perform drywall repairs, painting, and minor carpentry.
• Conduct routine property inspections.
• Complete preventive maintenance on building systems.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
• Maintain building grounds and storage spaces.
• Assist with snow and ice removal.
• Respond to emergency maintenance situations.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory.
• Document completed work orders and communicate outstanding repairs.
• Follow all safety procedures and building codes.
