Job summary

Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) is seeking a Full-time Residential Life Manager in Maryland. The role focuses on providing nonvisual blindness training within the Adult Residential program, emphasizing apartment management and Structured Discovery methods.

You will mentor students, coordinate move-ins, host tours, and maintain safety standards. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage up to four students, and collaboration with staff across

Qualifications

• Requires education beyond high school with specialized instruction.
• Proficient in alternative skills of blindness.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong classroom organization and management with up to 4 students.
• Able to read and interpret industry journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Responsibilities

• Provide nonvisual blindness training in the Adult Residential program; focus on Apartment Management.
• Deliver Orientation & Mobility, Braille, Technology, and Independent Living training.
• Mentor students and families in blindness skills.
• Represent the organization at external functions and events.
• Assist with apartment move-in/move-out procedures and orientations.
• Host apartment tours and coordinate student activities and meals.
• Prepare monthly student reports and liaise with staff and apartments.
• Support Youth and Senior training programs as needed.
