Job summary

La Frontera EMPACT - Suicide Prevention Center is seeking a Food Service Coordinator to manage kitchen operations for a large residential site. You will plan menus, supervise staff, and ensure safe, nutritious meals while meeting dietary needs.

The role requires a Food Management Certificate within 30 days, plus a track record of 5 years in food service and experience in healthcare or behavioral health settings. Weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Food Management Certificate to be completed within 30 days of hire.
• Five years of experience in the food service industry including catering, cooking, meal prep/planning, inventory, ordering, kitchen operations and/or kitchen management preferred.
• Experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, residential, group-home, or other human-services setting preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Food Handler/Safety certification required or able to obtain one if required.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and staff responsibilities.
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and assisting with routine kitchen/food-service duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares menus to meet the needs of residents.
• Collaborates with supervisors, medical staff, and nutritionists to ensure dietary needs are met.
• Orders food and supplies within budget.
• Coordinates, prepares and/or directs preparation of all food for the assigned program.
• Maintains kitchen safety and sanitation standards.
• Develops and implements instruction plans for clients in the kitchen area.
• Tracks client progress with residential clinical team on treatment plans.
• May supervise food service specialists and assist with meals.
• Attends meetings, training, and agency events as needed.
