Job summary

EMPACT- Suicide Prevention Center, part of the La Frontera family, is seeking a Food Service Coordinator in Phoenix to manage kitchen operations for a large residential site. You will plan menus, handle inventory, train staff, and coordinate with clinical teams to support resident care.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, a Food Management Certificate within 30 days, and 5 years in food service. Weekend shifts and driving may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Food Management Certificate to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Five years of experience in the food service industry including catering, cooking, meal prep/planning, inventory, ordering, kitchen operations and/or kitchen management preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, residential, group-home or human-services setting preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Food Handler/Safety certification required or able to obtain one if required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan menus meeting resident needs and dietary restrictions.
  • Order food and supplies cost-effectively within budget.
  • Coordinate and direct all food preparation for the program.
  • Maintain kitchen safety and sanitation standards.
  • Train and supervise clients and staff in kitchen tasks.
  • Document inventory and food-service paperwork accurately.
  • Assist with staff orientation and participate in client staffing when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with trainings and agency activities outside regular hours.

What you’ll do:

An Exciting opportunity to be a part of our transitional living facility. The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for kitchen management, meal preparation, and cooking of all meals in a large-scale residential site setting. Kitchen management includes planning of menus, incorporating special dietary considerations, completing inventory, placing orders, and training and supervising clients and staff assisting in the kitchen.

  • Prepares menus to meet the needs of residents. Collaborates with supervisors, medical staff, and nutritionists as needed to ensure dietary needs are met. Accommodates special dietary considerations when needed.
  • Orders food and supplies in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, remaining within budget.
  • Coordinates, prepares and/or directs preparation of all food for the assigned program.
  • Monitors and ensures all kitchen equipment is operated and maintained according to safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Develops and implements direct instruction plan for clients that are assigned to work in the kitchen area.
  • Completes follow up on all clients that are placed in kitchen, including working with the residential clinical team on progress and treatment plans.
  • May assist in orientation of new staff members.
  • May attend and participate in client staffing to determine progress and treatment outcomes.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Stays current with other trainings as assigned.
  • May supervise food service specialists to assist with meal preparation and cooking as assigned.
  • Attend meetings, training, and agency activities and events outside of regularly scheduled work hours upon request.
What you’ll provide:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Food Management Certificate required to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Five years of experience in the food service industry including catering, cooking, meal prep/planning, inventory, ordering, kitchen operations and/or kitchen management preferred.
  • Experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, residential, group-home, or other human-services setting preferred.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and staff responsibilities.
  • Able to maintain accurate documentation, inventory records, and other required food-service paperwork.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, or varying shifts when required.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and assisting with routine kitchen/food-service duties.
  • Active Fingerprint Clearance Card required or able to obtain one.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License, with no major infractions in the past three years is required.

  • The typical work environment will be working indoors in a kitchen setting.
