Job description

Residential Electrical Foreman

Absolute Air Services | Portland, CT

Build the Electrical Team. Lead from the Field. Make Your Mark.

Some electricians want to run calls. Others want to manage people. This opportunity is for someone who wants to do both.

Absolute Air Services is growing its residential electrical department, and we’re looking for an experienced E-1 Licensed Electrical Foreman to help lead its next stage of growth. You’ll serve as the electrical subject matter expert for our Portland location, helping establish the standards, processes, and team that will shape the department for years to come.

This is a true player-coach role. You’ll continue running residential service calls and keeping your truck revenue-producing while also interviewing prospective electricians, developing the team, monitoring performance, providing technical guidance, and holding employees accountable to expectations.

You won’t be stepping into a finished department and simply maintaining it. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how the electrical business operates, help select the people who join your team, and create a culture centered around quality workmanship, accountability, and an exceptional customer experience.

If you’re an experienced E-1 electrician who is ready to take the next step into leadership without giving up the field work you enjoy, Absolute Air Services offers an opportunity to have a meaningful impact.

Why Join Absolute Air Services?
  • Leadership opportunity with significant influence over a growing electrical department

  • Opportunity to help recruit and build your own team

  • Competitive compensation with performance-based earning opportunities

  • Steady, year-round customer demand

  • Strong customer service, dispatch, and operational support

  • Company-Provided Vehicle

  • Company Phone or Tablet

  • Professional Tools and Equipment

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) with Company Match

  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays

  • Company-Provided Uniforms

  • Ongoing Leadership, Technical, and Customer Service Training

  • Career Advancement Opportunities

  • Support from an established HVAC and home services organization

What You’ll Do
Lead the Electrical Department
  • Serve as the electrical subject matter expert for the Portland location.

  • Help establish and maintain electrical service standards, processes, and best practices.

  • Interview and participate in selecting electricians and electrical team members.

  • Train, coach, mentor, and develop electricians as the department grows.

  • Monitor individual performance, productivity, workmanship, and customer experience.

  • Provide regular coaching and feedback and address performance concerns when expectations are not being met.

  • Conduct field ride-alongs, quality checks, and technical support when needed.

  • Ensure the team operates safely and complies with Connecticut electrical codes, licensing requirements, permitting requirements, and company standards.

  • Partner with location leadership to identify staffing, training, equipment, and operational needs.

  • Help create a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Stay Productive in the Field
  • Maintain a revenue-producing service truck while balancing leadership responsibilities.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential electrical systems.

  • Install and replace panels, breakers, circuits, outlets, switches, lighting, ceiling fans, and related electrical components.

  • Complete service upgrades, wiring repairs, dedicated circuits, and electrical system improvements.

  • Install EV chargers, generators, surge protection, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and other residential electrical equipment.

  • Perform electrical safety inspections and identify code, performance, and safety concerns.

  • Clearly explain findings and present homeowners with appropriate repair or replacement options.

  • Complete accurate estimates, service notes, photos, and required documentation.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle and work environment.

What We’re Looking For
  • Active Connecticut E-1 Electrical Contractor license required.

  • Significant residential electrical service, repair, and installation experience.

  • Previous leadership, foreman, field supervision, or team-lead experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems, the National Electrical Code, and Connecticut requirements.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to independently manage complex residential electrical service calls.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable.

  • Comfortable interviewing and evaluating prospective electricians.

  • Ability to balance field productivity with leadership and administrative responsibilities.

  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.

  • Comfortable discussing options and recommending appropriate solutions to homeowners.

  • Professional judgment and the ability to lead by example.

  • Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, CRM systems, and field service software.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is measured in two ways: the performance of your truck and the performance of your team.

You’ll continue producing revenue and delivering an exceptional customer experience in the field while building a high-performing electrical department around you. Your technicians will understand what good looks like, receive the coaching they need to improve, and be held accountable to clear standards for productivity, quality, safety, and customer service.

Over time, your impact will be visible in a stronger team, consistent workmanship, satisfied customers, improved electrical revenue, and an electrical department positioned for continued growth.

Ready to Lead What Comes Next?

If you’ve mastered the technical side of residential electrical service and are ready for an opportunity to build people, influence a growing department, and still stay connected to the field, we want to talk to you.
