Job summary

University Housing seeks a Custodian Lead to supervise a team responsible for cleaning and waste removal across residence halls serving 4,000 students. You will mentor staff, manage supplies, and coordinate with Restaurant Operations and external partners to keep 1,000,000 square feet of living space in top condition.

Summer season brings intensified room changes and training, as you lead students and full-time employees through conferences, orientation, and the large-scale room-clean program.

Qualifications

• Forklift driving experience.
• University Housing trash removal experience.
• Ability to pull/push 100 pounds, lift up to 50 pounds, and carry up to 75 pounds for a distance of 25 feet.
• Prior experience using and maintaining custodial tools (auto scrubbers, extractors, vacuums, fill stations, chemicals).
• Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables.
• Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities.
• Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed.
• Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
• Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice.
• Schedules, monitors, and communicates with staff and assists with basic training.
• Responds to facility emergency and hazardous situations, and escalates incidents according to established policies and procedures.
