Job summary

University Housing at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee is seeking a Custodian Lead to supervise a staff across a 1,000,000 square foot residential housing environment. You will oversee trash removal, mentor team members, and ensure safe, clean living spaces for over 4,000 students.

Responsibilities include coordinating with restaurant operations and external partners, managing summer room cleaning programs, and maintaining daily housekeeping standards in residence halls.

Qualifications

• Forklift driving experience is required.
• Experience with University Housing trash removal is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds for 25 feet.
• Experience using custodial tools such as auto scrubbers and vacuums.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes basic equipment to clean facilities and remove waste.
• Monitors and secures facility entrances and reports issues.
• Maintains organization of supply areas and inventories.
• Documents repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
• Ensures walkways are clear of debris, snow, and ice.
• Schedules and trains staff; assists with basic training.
• Responds to emergencies and escalates as needed.
