Job summary

UCLA Housing & HHS seeks a Custodial Supervisor to oversee housekeeping for a large residence hall complex housing up to 2,000 residents and non-residential areas up to 200,000 sq. feet.

You will supervise 16-20 full-time staff and up to 10 seasonal workers, ensuring cleaning standards meet customer expectations and safety guidelines. The role includes on-the-job training on chemicals and equipment, adherence to university policies, and scheduling to meet changing priorities while controlling

Qualifications

• Three to four years custodial experience in a large institution.
• Leading or overseeing teams (1–2 years preferred).
• Experience in higher education environment preferred.
• Familiarity with university policies and procedures and payroll processes.
• Ability to supervise personnel matters, train staff and conduct evaluations.
• Strong written English; able to prepare schedules and reports.
• Ability to conduct on-site inspections and enforce sanitation standards.
• Knowledge of safety rules and handling cleaning chemicals; safety training.
• Ability to manage inventory and monitor supply usage to control costs.
• Excellent teamwork, communication and ability to work overtime/weekends.
