Job summary

Justice Resource Institute's Swansea Wood School in Swansea, MA seeks a Residential Counselor (Relief) to engage with students with compassion and energy, contributing to a supportive, safe therapeutic environment.

You will participate in daily activities, help students build life skills, and model coping strategies while working with a dedicated clinical team. Overtime may be required; schedules offer flexibility with 3-5 day work weeks.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Residential or Mental Health setting experience preferred.
• Maintains valid driver’s license as transporting students is required.
• Available to work evenings, holidays, weekend shifts as required.
• At JRI, you will learn to provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our students!
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Responsibilities

• Develop skills in providing enriching daily activities for students, such as arts and crafts and recreational activities.
• Create a safe and therapeutic community by supporting students in developing and role modeling effective coping strategies.
• Help students discover what makes them feel competent and valued by developing life skills such as cooking, banking, and vocational skills.

Swansea Wood School is a residential treatment setting for adolescents that specializes intraumainformed care.Swansea Wood provides 24-hour comprehensive care including a school on site, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff.
Multiple options for schedules to accommodate work life balance. Three, four and five day work weeks available.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $25.00 per hour. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.

Due to the nature of our work and the youth who are depending on us, there are times where overtime may be mandated.
