Job summary

Sheppard Pratt Careers in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a Direct Care Support Staff for a full-time, on-site role. The position requires working Thursday 4p–12am, Friday and Saturday 5p–1a, Sunday and Monday 4p–12am, to support homeless veterans in re-establishing independence.

You will provide a safe, therapeutic environment, supervise medication compliance, and work with a collaborative team to implement individual service plans. Transportation and advocacy during medical visits are included.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Active driver’s license with 3 points or less and access to insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Act as a residential counselor, working one-on-one with clients to support learning or re‑learning community living skills.
• Ensure medication compliance, including safety, dosage and cleanliness.
• Collaborate with the service team to develop and implement individual service plans.
• Provide transportation to clients’ medical appointments and advocate during appointments, ensuring follow-up instructions are documented.
• Build rapport with clients as part of their trusted support system as they progress in recovery.
