Job summary

Sheppard Pratt in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a part-time residential counselor for 16 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday 4pm-12am), on-site in Gaithersburg. The role supports the Residential Rehabilitation Program, helping clients obtain housing, employment and health services.

You will provide a safe, therapeutic environment, work one-on-one with clients, ensure medication safety, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized plans.

Qualifications

• Your high school diploma or a GED.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• The willingness to obtain additional certifications and trainings as required.
• A driver’s license with 3-points or less and access to an insured vehicle.
• Availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Act as a residential counselor and work one-on-one with clients to learn or regain skills for independent living.
• Ensure medication compliance and safety.
• Collaborate with a service team to develop and implement individual service plans.
• Provide transportation and attend clients’ medical appointments; advocate and document follow-ups.
