Job summary

BAMSI is seeking a Residential Counselor MAP to support adults in group living settings in Halifax, MA. The role focuses on rehabilitation, daily living skills, and community integration.

MAP certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months. Duties include teaching ADLs, implementing treatment plans, supervising medications, and transporting residents to activities. Strong English communication, compassion, and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• MAP certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with mobility.
• Strong communication skills in English; basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE).
• Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
• Implement Treatment Plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
• Administer/supervise medications by MAP guidelines and document care.
• Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
• Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
• Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.

• MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification is required for this position. Candidates without current certification must be willing to complete employer-provided training and successfully obtain certification within 3 months.

What You Bring:

• High school diploma/GED; direct care experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with mobility (bending, standing, etc.).
• Strong communication skills (English) and basic computer proficiency.
• Compassion, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed care.
• Bonus : Lived experience or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese).
