Job summary

BAMSI in Carver, MA is seeking a Residential Counselor to support adults in Group Living Environments, helping them build daily living skills and community integration.

The role requires MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification or willingness to obtain it within 3 months, a high school diploma or GED, and strong communication in English. A valid driver’s license and mobility assistance may be needed; the position includes comprehensive training and benefits.

Qualifications

• MAP certification is required; if not current, willing to complete employer-provided training and obtain certification within 3 months.
• High school diploma/GED; direct care experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with mobility.
• Strong communication skills (English) and basic computer proficiency.
• Compassion, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed care.
• Bonus: lived experience or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese).

Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments to foster skills for daily living and community integration.
• Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
• Implement Treatment Plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
• Administer/supervise medications by MAP guidelines and document care.
• Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
• Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
• Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
