Job summary

Alternative Services Connecticut, Inc. oversees daily supervision of consumers to ensure safety, welfare, and adherence to agency policies within a home setting.

The role implements behavior plans, documents progress, and supports staff to provide a respectful environment. Responsibilities include documenting activities, administering medications per DDS guidelines, conducting safety checks, transporting residents as needed, and participating in trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis; or education substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid driver''s license and ability to be insured.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, PMT and DDS Medication Administration certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and intervene physically as required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management programs; document on forms.
• Document shift activities and incidents in logs and Therap.
• Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
• Maintain safety, appearance and cleanliness of home; perform minor repairs or alert supervisor.
• Maintain professional attitude with coworkers, management, and external agencies.
• Know and follow all agency policies and DDS regulations.
• Complete incident reports promptly for incidents or workers'' compensation.
• Implement and adhere to policies and commitments to consumers per DDS and agency.
• Act as advocate and role model for consumers, treating individuals with respect and dignity.
• Assist with hygiene for consumers.
• Document activity related to welfare of home/consumers (movement, incidents, seizures, meds, etc).
• Distribute medications per schedule and DDS guidelines; organize activities for consumers.
• Provide counseling or reinforcement to address progress, problems, interests.
• Assist in supervising and transporting residents to activities.
• Know emergency procedures and follow them.
• Assist guardians/parents in normalization/person-centered planning.
• Report rights violations and participate in investigations.
• Attend training and staff meetings; participate in development opportunities.
• Follow agency policies and have knowledge of procedures.
