Job summary

Alternative Services - Oregon, Inc. in Milwaukie seeks an Assistant House Manager to support young men with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.

You will work with a dedicated team to supervise daily routines, ensure safety, and model calm, compassionate care. You will de-escalate challenging behaviors, implement behavior support plans, coach Direct Support Professionals, and maintain accurate incident documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience or working knowledge of supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
• Ability to remain calm and safety-focused when responding to challenging or aggressive behaviors.
• Strong understanding of de-escalation techniques and willingness to use trained safety interventions.
• Leadership and coaching skills to guide and support direct care staff.
• Knowledge of behavior support plans, incident reporting, and documentation.
• Ability to make sound decisions in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Commitment to dignity, respect, consistency, and safety for individuals served.

Responsibilities

• Support young men with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a residential group home setting.
• De-escalate challenging behaviors and follow behavior support plans.
• Coach Direct Support Professionals and ensure effective implementation of plans.
• Balance direct care, supervision, documentation, and problem-solving in daily operations.
