Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in the Homestead area of Pittsburgh seeks a Behavior Support Specialist to join our STAIRS residential program for youth with autism and developmental disabilities. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to implement behavior support plans, supervise residents, and promote safety and engagement in daily activities.

Education: High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor or higher degree preferred.
Experience: 1 year in a Psychiatric residential treatment facility preferred; 1 year with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Intellectual Disabilities preferred.
Physical requirements and abilities including CPR/first aid readiness and safe restraint capabilities.

Responsibilities

Implement Individualized Positive Behavior Support Plans and Behavioral Health Treatment Plans as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Provide Direct Care & Supervision to residents during daily activities and community outings.
Assist with Self-Care and Daily Living Skills to promote independence.
Prevent and respond to challenging behaviors, including de-escalation and crisis interventions.
Facilitate therapeutic activities and group sessions to develop social and communication skills.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for residents.
