Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in the Pittsburgh area seeks a motivated Behavior Support Specialist for our STAIRS program, a residential treatment initiative for youth with autism and developmental disabilities. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to implement behavioral plans and support residents in daily activities.

The role involves direct care, supervision, crisis intervention, and teaching self-care skills in a structured, therapeutic setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1 year experience in a Psychiatric residential treatment facility preferred.
• Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Intellectual Disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized Positive Behavior Support Plans and Behavioral Health Treatment Plans.
• Provide direct care and supervision of residents during daily activities and community outings.
• Support self-care and daily living skills for residents with limited independence.
• Prevent and respond to challenging behaviors using approved intervention techniques.
• Facilitate individual and group sessions to build social and communication skills and emotion regulation.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for residents.
