Job summary

Housing Works Inc. in New York is seeking a Residential Aide to support residents and staff across shifts (8am–4pm, 4pm–12am, 12am–8am, etc.). The role emphasizes safety, crisis intervention, and adherence to the organization’s Code of Conduct. You will build rapport with clients, de-escalate conflicts, and coordinate with clinical staff. Requires at least one year of experience. On-site duties include meals and light cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the program's Code of Conduct is enforced by clients.
• Build rapport with program clients and engage professionally.
• De-escalate tense client situations when necessary.
• Ensure the safety, security and integrity of residents and the facility.
• Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
• Provide screenings for entrants.
• Submit Shift Reports and Incident Reports per policy.
• Assist with meals and light custodial tasks.
• Perform occasional snow removal and other site duties.
• Participate in advocacy to end homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
