HELP USA is seeking a Residential Aide to support single adults in a shelter setting at Franklin, Bronx. You will help safeguard clients and the facility, coordinate with the Social Services Team, and ensure smooth shift operations.
Responsibilities include intake, safety patrols, inventory control, bed/meal counts, and using the DHS CARES system to track client activity, with a focus on communication and continuity of care.
As a Residential Aide at one of our shelters for single adults, you’ll be responsible for helping to ensure the safety of our clients, the security of our facility and grounds, and the orderly operation of the facility during your shift. You’ll also work directly with our clients to ensure that they attend required internal and external meetings, and you’ll collaborate with members of the Social Services Team to ensure client issues are addressed and there is continuity and consistent communication throughout a client’s stay.
Conducting Intake/Orientation for new clients, which includes explaining processes, rules, and regulations, copying and filing IDs, and assigning beds.
Conducting and documenting patrols to ensure client compliance with site rules and regulations to ensure health and safety.
Managing processes for inventorying and securing possessions of clients who are away from the site for hospitalization, incarceration, or other reasons.
Conducting bed and meal counts and assisting House Managers with locker searches.
Using the DHS CARES system to track vacancies, check clients in and out, print rosters, etc.
Ensuring that clients receive any notices of meetings and appointments from the Social Services Team on a timely basis, escorting clients to meetings and appointments when necessary.
Documenting incidents and other noteworthy events that occur during your shift.
High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.
Work experience in residential facilities.
Experience and capacity to work with people experiencing homelessness or otherdisadvantaged people.
Strong relationship and customer service skills.
Computer literacy with Microsoft applications.
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Ability to provide night and weekend coverage as needed.
