Job summary

Friendship Place in Washington, DC is seeking an on-site Residential Aide for The Aston, a non-congregate shelter serving adults experiencing homelessness. The role provides 24/7 on-site services, intake support, and resource distribution within a multi-bed facility.

Responsibilities include shift notes, safety disclosures, program rule enforcement, and collaboration with staff to ensure high-quality services while maintaining documentation compliance. This is a full-time, night-shift position.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED and 2 years of general work experience, including one year of direct human service experience.
• Associate and/or bachelor's degree with six months of direct human service experience (Preferred).
• Two (2) years of lived experience may substitute for 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate support and oversight of residents, units, and grounds of The Aston to ensure safety.
• Conducts intake processes for newly assigned residents and explains program rules, rights, and responsibilities.
• Submits daily shift notes to the Shift Supervisor and maintains a shift log of activities.
• Performs weekly inspections of units and submits required documentation.
• Reports on maintenance and building concerns to the Shift Supervisor.
• Distributes meals, hygiene supplies, laundry supplies, linens, towels, and other resources.
