Job summary

Adams and Associates, Inc. seeks a Residential Advisor to be a steady, day-to-day presence for students living in the Brunswick Job Corps Center.

You will mentor, guide, and model positive behavior to help residents grow into their best selves while maintaining a safe, structured dorm environment. You will deliver counseling, supervise activities, keep records, and support career development services with a focus on safety, attendance, and respectful community living; overtime may be required to

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of one (1) year of Job Corps or related program experience.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds, or to assess a load and request assistance as needed.
• Willingness to work overtime when directed, with regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance that helps students build a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory living and accomplish their goals.
• Patrol and monitor dormitories and the Center to ensure safety and proper behavior of students and resolve problems.
• Prepare daily operations reports and maintain student files with complete documentation.
• Model standards and support success by mentoring students and promoting Career Success Standards.

Deliver guidance, counseling, group sessions, and independent living skills; determine, recommend, and arrange student visits to counselors; and assist in unit activities, including unit government.Ensure a Safe, Structured EnvironmentPatrol and monitor dormitories and the Center as required, ensuring the safety and proper behavior of students and resolving potential or occurring problems. Direct students and assist in the cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory, and recommend or requisition supplies to meet dorm living and student safety needs.Maintain Records & ReportingPrepare the daily operations report, pass list, and other administrative correspondence relating to students. Maintain dormitory and individual student files — ensuring they're complete, updated, and fully documented and enter student case notes in the Center information system.Model Standards & Support SuccessParticipate in the career development services system by ensuring a safe living environment and modeling positive peer leadership. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
