Job summary

Sycamore Heights Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a part-time Activities Assistant to enhance resident wellbeing and engagement. The role involves planning and leading activities that promote social interaction and physical well-being.

You will work closely with the activity coordinator, support residents in participation, and help set up and tidy spaces. A high school diploma and strong communication skills are preferred; enthusiasm for working with seniors is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in a similar role is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine passion for working with individuals, particularly in a care or community setting.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Flexible, creative, and adaptable to the changing needs of residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being for residents.
• Support residents in participating in various activities, ensuring their comfort and enjoyment.
• Collaborate with the activity coordinator to develop innovative programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
• Maintain a positive and encouraging atmosphere during activities and encourage participation from all residents.
• Assist with the setup and cleanup of activity spaces and ensure all materials are in order.
• Build meaningful relationships with residents, creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
