Job summary

Elmhurst Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is looking for an Activities Assistant to join a compassionate, resident-centered team in a full-time role. You will create engaging programs that support the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual well-being of residents.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of relevant experience, and strong English communication. Prior experience with seniors is preferred, with opportunities to grow in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in activities within healthcare or senior care preferred.
• Experience working with seniors is highly desirable.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, engaging environment that enhances residents' quality of life.
• Document resident participation and engagement in activities.
• Promote residents' well-being through meaningful activities and interactions.
• Plan, develop, organize, and implement recreational, social, educational, and community-based programs.
• Build relationships with residents and encourage participation based on interests and preferences.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support care goals.
• Observe changes in residents' moods or participation for the team.
• Assist with community outreach and marketing events that showcase resident-centered care.
• Complete administrative tasks, including audits and program records.
• Prepare, decorate, set up, and break down activities and events.
• Escort residents to and from activities.
