Job summary

Snow Hill Memory Care in North Carolina seeks a compassionate Resident Transporter to safely transport residents to medical appointments, community activities, and other outings, ensuring comfort and safety at all times. You will maintain clean vehicles, coordinate schedules with staff, document transportation activities, and provide friendly, professional service to residents.

A high school diploma and a valid driver's license with a clean record are required, with additional experience

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, healthcare, or customer service is preferred.
• Ability to safely assist residents with mobility, including wheelchairs and walkers.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to and from medical appointments, social outings, and activities.
• Assist residents during boarding and exiting vehicles, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Maintain company vehicles: cleanliness, fueling, and routine maintenance.
• Coordinate transportation schedules with staff and residents for timely routes.
• Follow traffic laws, safety regulations, and facility protocols.
• Document transportation logs and report incidents to appropriate staff.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service to residents throughout transport.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safe Transportation: Safely transport residents to and from scheduled medical appointments, social outings, and other activities as directed.
• Resident Assistance: Provide assistance to residents during boarding and exiting vehicles, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure company vehicles are clean, fueled, and properly maintained. Report any issues or concerns to management.
• Schedule Coordination: Work closely with staff and residents to ensure timely transportation scheduling and efficient route planning.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and facility protocols to ensure a secure and positive travel experience for residents.
• Communication & Documentation: Maintain accurate transportation logs and report any incidents or concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Customer Service: Engage with residents in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive and reassuring experience during transportation.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)
• Previous experience in a transportation, healthcare, or customer service role (preferred)
• Ability to safely operate a passenger transport vehicle (training provided if necessary)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
• Ability to assist residents with mobility needs, including wheelchairs and walkers
