Job summary

Discovery Senior Living is seeking a Driver to transport residents safely to activities and appointments, conduct vehicle inspections, and assist residents with mobility.

Responsibilities include vehicle safety, route adherence, and serving with courtesy. Requirements include a high school diploma, 21+ years, valid license, and good driving record. CDL may be required by some communities; DOT compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; CDL may be required based on community needs.
• Ability to meet applicable transportation and safety requirements.
• Previous experience in a customer service or transportation role preferred; senior living experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
• Ability to operate vehicle lifts and secure wheelchairs and mobility devices.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with leadership and team members.
• Familiarity with local routes and traffic patterns preferred.
• Ability to assist residents with mobility devices.
• Ability to lift or support wheelchairs and mobility aids.
• Compliance with DOT and state driving regulations.
• Ability to pass motor vehicle record (MVR) check.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, safe, and courteous transportation for residents to and from scheduled activities and appointments.
• Conduct visual vehicle inspections at the beginning of each shift and complete required inspection checklists and reports.
• Assist residents, including those with mobility challenges, into and out of vehicles safely.
• Secure wheelchairs, scooters, and mobility devices using appropriate restraint systems during transport.
• Safely operate radios, cell phones, or communication devices to report delays or service disruptions.
• Maintain community vehicles in clean, safe, and good operating condition.
• Clean, fuel, and service vehicles as needed.
• Assist with vehicle registration and license renewal processes as required.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules while adjusting as needed to ensure resident safety and service quality.
• Comply with all safety procedures, transportation policies, and applicable regulations.
• Provide miscellaneous pick-up and delivery services as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
