Job summary

Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport is seeking an experienced Customer Service professional to serve as the first contact for participants seeking housing services. You will coordinate activities, counsel participants, and manage a caseload within the Resident Services Program.

The role involves organizing meetings, conducting interviews, maintaining case files, and partnering with local agencies to improve residents' earnings and stability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior employment experience related to case management.
  • Experience working with low-income families and the populations the program intends to serve.
  • Experience working with self-sufficiency, earnings and/or employment programs.
  • Knowledge of resources available in the local community to help residents increase their earnings and assets.
  • Knowledge of pertinent HUD regulations.
  • Prior employment experience related to HUD rental assistance programs.
  • Empathy and positive regard for the families who enroll in the FSS program and ability to be nonjudgmental.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate caseload of participants in the Resident Services Program.
  • Organize agendas and participate in meetings informing residents about the program.
  • Conduct one-on-one interviews, prepare contracts, needs assessments, and referrals.
  • Act as liaison between participants and community resources.
  • Create and maintain case files for Resident Services and Homeownership participants.
  • Plan and coordinate special events and programs as assigned.
  • Prepare written materials addressing participant needs including brochures and newsletters.
  • Prepare reports for the program and submit to the Executive Director.
  • Assist participants to increase knowledge of credit, budgeting, and finances.
  • Prepare proposals for services as needed.

Job Description

General Description of Position

Coordinate activities, manage, counsel, and evaluate a caseload of participants in the HACS Resident Services Program. Provide and arrange training program, conduct orientations, evaluations and appraisals of clients, collect data file reports and provide technical assistance to HACS staff with related work as required.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate the HACS effort to make families self-sufficient with social, community and other public agencies that provide assistance to the Resident Services program.
  • Organize an agenda and participate in meetings that provide residents information on the Resident Services program.
  • Conduct one-on-one interviews with Resident Services participants, prepare contracts, prepare needs assessment, and make referrals.
  • Act as liaison between program participants and various community resources.
  • Create and maintain case files on all Resident Services and Homeownership program participants.
  • Plan and coordinate special events and programs as assigned.
  • Prepare a variety of written materials to address participant needs including brochures, handouts, and newsletters.
  • Prepare reports for the program by individual participants and submit to the Executive Director.
  • Assist participants to increase knowledge of issues related to credit, budgeting, and finances through one on one work and/or referrals.
  • Prepare proposals for services as needed.
