Job summary

Northeastern University in Oakland, CA seeks an entry-level Community Assistant to live in and support first-year residential students. You will assist with academic, social, and personal development while helping orient students to the Bay Area and campus life.

Collaborating with Student Life, you will maintain a safe, inclusive residential environment, manage on-call rotations, plan programs, and uphold housing standards to support student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 1-2 years student service or higher education experience.
• Experience with housing/student affairs preferred.
• Ability to work evenings/weekends/on-call.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct guidance to first-year students and monitor wellbeing.
• Conduct one-on-one check-ins with residents each semester.
• Respond to concerns; connect to resources.
• Maintain safety through on-call rotations.
• Plan and run diverse student programs.
• Enforce housing policies and resolve conflicts.
