Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking a Residence Director to foster a vibrant, inclusive living environment for students. This 12-month, full-time, live-in position emphasizes visibility in residential areas and on-call crisis response.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), at least 2 years in student life or related fields, and strong interpersonal skills. It includes event planning, budget involvement, and supervising Resident Assistants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree in Student Affairs, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in student life, community engagement, or related field.
• Student supervision experience required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, crisis management abilities, event planning experience, and commitment to belonging and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Organize and facilitate events and programs that foster community engagement and belonging.
• Develop and implement leadership training for student leaders and mentors with campus partners.
• Serve as hearing officer for Residential Life, adjudicate cases, assign sanctions and referrals as needed.
• Respond to student emergencies and crises in scheduled on-call rotations.
• Mediate conflicts and promote an inclusive, supportive living environment.
• Collect and analyze student feedback to improve community engagement.
