Job summary

Aperion Care Demotte is looking for an Activity Assistant to support planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational and social programs for residents in our long-term care facility. You will work under supervision to ensure activities align with care plans and resident assessments, promoting engagement and well-being.

You will coordinate with other departments, prepare activity spaces, monitor resident responses, and assist residents with crafts and visits, while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating activity programs; observe resident attendance and involvement and report on progress.
• Develop and maintain good rapport with other departments to ensure activities run without interruption.
• Prepare activity rooms for programs and recommend equipment and supplies as needed.
• Assist in cleaning activity areas after functions.
• Follow care plans when providing daily activities for residents.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and treat residents with dignity at all times.
• Oversee residents in scheduled activities to promote physical, social and mental well-being.
