Job summary

Axiom Care is seeking an Activity Assistant/Aide to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs in accordance with residents' assessments and care plans.

You will work with other departments, prepare activity spaces, observe resident engagement, and support residents with letters, crafts, and errands, while maintaining confidentiality and treating residents with dignity.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement & evaluate activity programs and quality assurance for the Activities Department. Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and involvement; document resident progress.
• Develop & maintain good rapport with other departments to ensure activities can be performed without interruption; create a warm, personal atmosphere and calm environment.
• Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs; recommend equipment and supplies for the activity department.
• Clean up activity areas after completing functions.
• Follow the care plan by providing daily activities for residents.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and follow guidelines; treat residents with dignity.
• Oversee residents engaged in activities to promote well-being, using knowledge of diagnoses and conditions.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts and projects.
