Job summary

McCormick's Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking an Activities Assistant/Aide to support planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational and social programs for residents. Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating activity programs.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior and involvement to evaluate progress.
• Maintain warmth, personal interest and a calm environment across the facility.
• Prepare activity rooms for scheduled programs and advise on equipment needs.
• Assist in cleaning up activity areas after functions.
• Follow the care plan when providing daily activities for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in line with guidelines.
• Oversee residents during activities to promote physical, social and mental well-being.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands and helping with crafts.
