Job summary

PruittHealth in Maryland-Charlotte Hall is seeking a Recreation Services professional to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating engaging programs for residents. You will interview residents and families to tailor activities, coordinate with the care team, and ensure rights and preferences are respected.

Responsibilities include scheduling diverse activities, supporting cognitively impaired residents, maintaining records, and contributing to budgeting and policy updates.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum two (2) years college education with courses in recreation, education, social work, other behavioral sciences or clinical services.
• Two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year full-time employment in a patient/resident activities program in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluation of recreational programs by interviewing residents, family, legal representatives and others to develop individualized recreation programs.
• Updates resident Recreation programs as needed to accommodate needs and protect residents’ rights.
• Works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care; communicates concerns to the team.
• Schedules activities to fit resident hours and include seasonal events; posts monthly Activities calendar.
• Provides activities to residents confined to their rooms reflecting lifelong interests.
• Provides structured activities for cognitively impaired residents and adapts tasks for participation.
• Develops and implements procedures to ensure residents are informed about activities and transportation is provided.
• Records progress notes in the clinical record and audits chart entries for completeness and accuracy.
• Performs quality assessment and assurance, including regulatory rounds and staff/resident interviews; identifies performance issues and takes corrective action.
• Develops and updates Recreation Services policies and procedures in line with facility philosophy and laws.
• Communicates with Nursing Home Administrator daily to discuss resident care, personnel and budget needs.

Education
