Job summary

Northern Cardinal Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and directing a robust program of activities for residents. You will assist in providing entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression that meet residents' social, emotional, and therapeutic needs.

You will help develop calendars, coordinate community involvement, support volunteers, and document progress while ensuring safety, compliance, and quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent related work experience.
• 6 months to 1 year experience or related experience performing activity related duties.
• Knowledge of the aging process and various resident activities.
• Ability to assume leadership role in the Activity Department in the absence of the Activity Director.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and directing a program of activities to meet residents' needs.
• Develop, organize and implement activities within budget and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate community involvement for facility activities and events.
• Provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
• Create and maintain a monthly calendar of activities and calendars for residents.
• Maintain activity records and progress notes for medical staff.
