Job summary

Norview Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the planning, organization, and direction of a comprehensive activities program for residents. You will assist impaired residents and families in exploring suitable avocation/leisure options within budget and facility policies.

The role emphasizes creating engaging daily schedules, coordinating volunteers, and promoting community involvement while maintaining accurate records and resident care plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1 year experience in activity-related duties or equivalent.
• Knowledge of aging and resident activities.
• Ability to lead the Activity Department in absence of the director.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience working with volunteers and organizing programs.

Responsibilities

• Meet physical and sensory requirements and work in the described environment.
• Identify and participate in process improvements to enhance resident experience and workflow.
• Help develop, organize and implement activities addressing social, emotional, physical and therapeutic needs.
• Promote activities inside and outside the facility while ensuring resident safety.
• Coordinate and verify assistance for activities and events.
• Provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
• Create a monthly calendar of activities accessible to residents of all ages and abilities.
• Maintain scheduling and documentation per policies and regulatory requirements.
• Engage community clubs, groups, organizations, churches, and volunteers in planning events.
• Assist in planning and directing Activity Department fund-raising events.
• Maintain records of activity programs and resident participation for care plan goals.
• Participate in resident care planning to identify activity needs.
