Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation in Dorchester County seeks a Resident Maintenance Foreman to supervise foremen and crews across road and bridge maintenance projects. You will organize schedules, safety training, and major operations including driveways, signage, drainage, paving, and vegetation management, ensuring work quality and safety.

The role supports field investigations of complaints, data updates in maintenance systems, and hazard analyses.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of related work experience or an accepted equivalent.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Supervises foremen and crews in construction, repair and preservation of roads and bridges across Dorchester County.
• Organizes maintenance crew schedules, safety training, and major activities including driveways, signage, drainage, litter removal, vegetation management, patching and paving, and other special operations.
• Assists for investigation and assessment of field complaints to ensure timely response and safety; updates data and runs reports in the highway maintenance system.
• Conducts weekly work zone and jobsite hazard analyses; monitors CDL pre-trip inspections and maintains time sheets and cost records.
• Prepares orders for stockpile or direct purchase materials; ensures sufficient quantities of materials are available for scheduled and unscheduled work.
• Oversees facility cleanliness, maintenance of equipment and storage areas; coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections; manages emergency operations and detours per the Work Zone Manual.
