New Haven Assisted Living of Kyle is seeking a dedicated Cook to assist the Chef in preparing meals for residents, following approved menus and standards. This on-site role involves safe food handling, daily kitchen cleanliness, and engaging with residents to ensure meals are enjoyable and nutritious.

The Cook will prepare meals at scheduled times (8 am, noon, 5 pm), follow recipes, manage leftovers, and help maintain inventories while adhering to state and local regulations.

Formación

• Must have compassion and a desire to meet the nutritional needs of the frail elderly.
• Knowledge of basic food groups and nutrition.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods.
• Ability to cook a variety of foods and manage cooking times/seasonings.
• Knowledge of low sodium, low cholesterol, and ADA diets.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff, residents, and families.
• Ability to function in an independent work environment.
• Handle complaints graciously and take correction maturely.
• Be honest and trustworthy.
• Must have a food handler certificate or be willing to acquire within two weeks of employment.

Responsabilidades

• Report to work on time as scheduled and ready to carry out duties.
• Prepare and serve meals at 8 am, Noon, and 5 pm (times subject to change).
• Follow written menus and make menu suggestions.
• Ensure leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored properly.
• Know and follow state/local food service regulations (temperature control, labeling, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen, dining room and pantry daily.
• Participate in checking food and supply inventories weekly and submit lists on time.
• Know residents’ food likes and dislikes to avoid serving undesired meals.
• Eliminate food waste and control portions to manage costs.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
