Job summary

Healthcare kitchen experience is preferred; you must read recipes and follow modified diets. You will assist with menu planning, inventory, sanitation, proper food temperatures, and may work weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Healthcare/Institutional cooking experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, sanitation standards, and nutrition.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and modified diet instructions.
• Food Handler's Certification or ServSafe Certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
• Follow special diet orders, including therapeutic, diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets.
• Ensure food is prepared and served in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner.
• Maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, cooking, and serving.
• Assist with menu planning and food production schedules.
• Monitor food inventory and report shortages to the Dietary Manager.
• Receive, store, and rotate food supplies using FIFO procedures.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, and surfaces.
• Follow all federal, state, local, and facility food safety regulations.
• Work cooperatively with dietary staff, nursing staff, and other departments.
• Assist with meal service and resident food requests as needed.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and workplace safety policies.
