New Haven Assisted Living of Bastrop is seeking a Cook to assist the Chef in preparing meals per approved menus and standards. You will ensure leftovers are labeled and stored properly, follow safety regulations, and help maintain a clean kitchen and dining area.

You will work with residents to accommodate preferences, learn their dietary needs (ADA, low-sodium options), and support a warm dining experience daily at multiple service times.

Qualifications

• Must have compassion to meet nutritional needs of the frail elderly.
• General knowledge of basic food groups.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods.
• Able to cook a variety of foods.
• Familiar with low sodium, low cholesterol, and ADA diets.
• Willing to obtain a food handlers’ certificate within two weeks of employment.
• Able to work cooperatively with staff, residents, and families.
• Honest and trustworthy.
• Able to function autonomously in an independent work environment.

Responsabilités

• Report to work on time every day as scheduled and ready to carry out duties.
• React to changes in schedules in a productive manner.
• Identify safety hazards and report or correct as directed.
• Prepare and serve meals at 8 am, Noon, and 5 pm.
• Follow written menus and suggest menu options within food groups.
• Label, date, and store leftovers properly.
• Follow state and local food service regulations and proper cleaning procedures.
• Make mealtimes enjoyable by being attentive and kind to residents.
• Eliminate food waste and monitor inventories weekly.
• Know residents’ food likes and dislikes; adjust meals accordingly.
• Daily clean kitchen, dining room, and pantry.
• Prioritize portion control and cost; reduce waste.
• Work with cleaners and other products safely.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
