Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Resident Engineer to oversee day-to-day contractor activities at Port Newark, NJ. You will act as construction manager for Stage IV contracts, coordinating with facility operations, inspecting construction, and handling contract administration.

You will lead a team of Engineers, Inspectors and Administrators, monitor budgets and schedules, and ensure safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college or university.
• At least 10 years of Construction Management experience with 3 years as an Assistant Resident Engineer or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff of Engineers, Inspectors and Administrators to ensure high quality construction.
• Ensure field inspector narratives, inspections and reports are performed timely.
• Monitor contractor adherence to plans, specifications and shop drawings, coordinating with Facility Operations and maintaining safety.
• As Stage IV Construction Manager, manage overall schedule, milestones and closeout, and develop mitigation plans.
• Oversee contract budgets, approve payments, manage change orders and contractor claims.
• Regularly report construction status to senior engineers and executives; monitor submittals and RFIs.
• Ensure CMD procedures and policies are followed and mentor staff to meet objectives.
