The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeks a Resident Engineer to lead environmental compliance within the Construction Management Division. Based in Jersey City, NJ, you will oversee staff, ensure regulatory adherence during hazardous material abatement, and support sustainability initiatives including LEED requirements.

You will review plans and procedures, manage environmental testing, and coordinate consultant activities while controlling budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Environmental Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory role in the environmental field.
• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
• Hazardous Waste Management – RCRA Training meeting the requirements of 40CFR Part 262.
• Hazardous Material Transportation certification from the USDOT.
• Experience managing a team of consultants, permanent and specialty staff.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have completed all probationary periods at time of appointment to position.

Responsabilités

• Manage the Environmental Field Office’s to ensure construction contracts comply with all regulatory requirements during hazardous material abatement.
• Review plans, procedures, and construction inspection of environmental items with the Resident Engineers office staff.
• Support Clean Construction initiatives and ensure effective execution.
• Update Locus Technologies environmental software and develop status reports for managers and staff.
• Serve as CMD’s point of contact for sustainability initiatives including embodied carbon reduction and ENVISION / LEED requirements.
• Ensure sampling and testing of hazardous and universal wastes, contaminated materials, and wastes at PA facilities.
• Determine lead and asbestos content to support abatement programs.
• Administer consultant call-in agreements and manage bids for waste streams.
• Approve and negotiate consultant/vendor project scope, schedule, and budget.
