Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeks a Resident Engineer to lead environmental compliance and clean construction initiatives within the Construction Management Division. Based at the Port Authority Technical Center in Jersey City, NJ, the role may relocate to other facilities to meet CMD workload demands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Environmental Engineering from an accredited college.
• Minimum five years in a supervisory role within environmental field.
• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification with knowledge of hazardous waste.
• Hazardous Waste Management – RCRA training (40 CFR Part 262).
• Hazardous Materials Transportation certification (USDOT).
• Experience managing a team of consultants and staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Environmental Field Offices to ensure regulatory compliance during hazardous material abatement.
• Review plans, procedures, and conduct construction inspections for environmental items.
• Support sustainability initiatives including embodied carbon reduction (ENVISION/LEED).
• Update Locus Technologies environmental software and prepare status reports.
• Coordinate consultant/vendor scope, schedule, and budget for projects.
• Administer consultant call-in agreements and manage waste stream bids.
