Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Resident Engineer for our St. George, UT project. You will supervise the technical staff across highway, structural and maintenance design while leading inspection teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering, a PE license, and 5+ years CE&I experience, with a valid driver's license and solid driving history. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and robust benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5+ years CE&I experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license – Required.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Resident engineering, project management, interfacing with the client, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and coordinate inspectors' activities (civil, structural and materials testing) and project quality standards while reporting on schedules and budgets.
  • Manage and coordinate with field staff and serve as liaison to project clients.
  • Inspect contract documents to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Analyze engineering data and test materials, review plans and take notes on project operations.
  • Resolve issues to mitigate delays to contractor’s or project’s progress.
  • Ensure timely delivery and quality of deliverables; coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners.

As a Resident Engineer you will supervise the work of technical staff involving engineering analysis, highway design, structural design, maintenance, construction, and traffic engineering. You will act as the team leader of an inspection staff and engage in the performance of professional engineering work. You will be responsible for successful delivery of scope, schedule, and budget of assigned construction projects and you will represent the customer before the public and other governmental agencies.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Resident engineering, project management, interfacing with the client, contractors and subcontractors
  • Monitor, coordinate inspector's activities (civil, structural and materials testing) as well as project quality standards while reporting on all schedules, budgeting and other pertinent project management requirements
  • Manage and coordinate with field staff
  • Serve as liaison to the project clients
  • Inspect contract documents to make sure they are compliant with standards and specifications
  • Analyze engineering-related data and test materials, review plans
  • Take notes on project operations, and resolve any issues that mitigate delays to the contractor’s/project’s progress
  • Timely delivery and/or quality of deliverables
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing the progress of the projects

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years of CE&I experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Active Professional Engineer License (PE) – Required
